Mandatory Course - Renewal Cycle 2012-2014 (Vermont Only)

Course Duration: 4 hours

This is the REQUIRED COURSE for Vermont real estate agents renewing licenses in March 2014 (Brokers) or May 2014 (Salespersons).

This course is subtitled: "Broker and Associate Duties, Responsibilities, and Best Practices" and includes an extensive outline, several focus points and a few directed discussion topics .   The emphasis is on broker supervisory duties and best practices and how these affect conduct of associates of the firm.  The course is designed to be highly interactive. Inquiry, comment, and active discussion is encouraged from participants. The course includes a bound manual.

New Rules & Recent Legislation

Course Duration: 4 hours

This course surveys changes to the Vermont Real Estate Commission Administrative Rules which became effective September 1, 2013.  This course also surveys certain Vermont legislation pertaining to private road maintenance, mortgage loan originators, consumer protection, and disclosures.  This course also touches on the new BW-12 federal legislation relating to flood hazard rates and the new CFPB regulations relating to "qualified mortgages."

Course Duration: 4 hours

This course surveys the requirements of both the federal and Vermont fair housing laws including discussions of actual and hypothetical cases and examples.  The course is roughly divided evenly between theory and practice.  The Course includes a textbook entitled "Fair Housing" by Marcia L. Russell, published by Dearborn/Kaplan (Fourth Edition, 2012).
